它們具有發(fā)育良好的菌絲體,菌絲體分枝,無隔膜,直徑約0.4~1微米,長短不一,多核。菌絲體有營養(yǎng)菌絲、氣生菌絲和孢子絲之分,孢子絲再形成分生孢子。孢子絲和孢子的形態(tài)因種而異,這是鏈霉菌屬分種的主要識別性狀之一。雖然一些鏈霉菌可見于淡水和海洋,但它主要生長在含水量較低、通氣較好的土壤中。由于許多鏈霉菌產(chǎn)生抗生素的巨大經(jīng)濟價值和醫(yī)學意義,對這類放線菌已做了大量研究工作。研究表明,抗生素主要由放線菌產(chǎn)生,而其中90%又由鏈霉菌產(chǎn)生,著名的、常用的抗生素如鏈霉素、土霉素,抗腫瘤的博萊霉素、,抗真菌的制霉菌素,抗結(jié)核的卡那霉素,能有效防治水稻紋枯的井岡霉素等,都是鏈霉菌的次生代謝產(chǎn)物。有的鏈霉菌能產(chǎn)生一種以上的抗生素,有化學上,它們常?;ゲ幌嚓P(guān);可是,從*許多不同地區(qū)發(fā)現(xiàn)的不同種別,卻可能產(chǎn)生同抗生素;改變鏈霉菌的營養(yǎng),可能導致抗生素性質(zhì)的改變。這些菌一般能抵抗自身所產(chǎn)生的抗生素,而對其他鏈霉菌產(chǎn)生的抗生素可能敏感。
