威林頓實(shí)驗(yàn)室公司(Wellington Laboratories)成立于1980年,一直致力于提供高質(zhì)量的參考標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和客戶服務(wù)。多年來,對(duì)環(huán)境界趨勢(shì)的敏銳意識(shí)和對(duì)研發(fā)的奉獻(xiàn)精神使我們能夠合成各種新興污染物。
在1970年代后期,多氯聯(lián)苯是已知的環(huán)境污染物,而氯化二惡英(PCDD)和呋喃(PCDF)直到最近才被視為對(duì)環(huán)境的威脅。此外,關(guān)于多氯聯(lián)苯、多氯二苯并對(duì)二噁英和多氯二苯并呋喃的毒性,特別是長期影響的信息很少。
隨著越來越多的人證明某些多氯聯(lián)苯、多氯二苯并對(duì)二苯并呋喃同系物具有相當(dāng)大的毒性,并且毒性明顯高于其他同系物,對(duì)這些化合物標(biāo)準(zhǔn)品的需求迅速增長。然而,這些化合物的參考標(biāo)準(zhǔn)品很少在市場(chǎng)上可用。
多年來,創(chuàng)立威林頓的科學(xué)家為他們自己的研究合成了多氯聯(lián)苯、多氯二苯并對(duì)二苯并呋喃和其他鹵代芳香族化合物的單個(gè)同系物。對(duì)這些化合物的樣品和相關(guān)化合物的定制合成的需求變得勢(shì)不可擋,威林頓的成立是為了更快、更有效地做出反應(yīng)。
1983年4月,威林頓發(fā)布了第一份目錄,提供多氯聯(lián)苯、多氯二苯并噁英和多氯二苯并呋喃同系物。該目錄只有4頁長,列出了大約75種單獨(dú)的化合物。
在隨后的幾年里,威林頓增加了更多的員工和實(shí)驗(yàn)室空間,并致力于大量的研究和開發(fā),提供了1000多種產(chǎn)品。
威林頓將繼續(xù)其研究工作,目標(biāo)是開發(fā)對(duì)環(huán)境和人類健康構(gòu)成風(fēng)險(xiǎn)的化合物的其他參考標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。
