正常發(fā)育時(理想環(huán)境條件下),幼螨和每一若螨期都有一個激活的喂食期伴隨著靜止期,期間在舊的外骨骼內(nèi)發(fā)生著從一個生活史時期到下一生活史時期的細(xì)菌。一旦細(xì)菌完成,即蛻皮,接著出現(xiàn)下一激活期。未成熟期沒有生殖系統(tǒng)和兩性器官區(qū)別,即外生殖器尚未發(fā)育。幼螨與成螨形態(tài)類似,但體積較小。幼螨和昆蟲一樣只有3對共6條腿,但若螨和成螨為八足類動物,具4對共8條腿。生活史(從雌螨產(chǎn)卵到第三若螨發(fā)育為成螨)時間長短依賴于螨發(fā)育環(huán)境的溫度和相對濕度。理想的發(fā)育溫度為20~25℃,RH為70%~75%。溫度和RH降低,螨的發(fā)育時間延長,相反溫度在熱致死點(diǎn)限度內(nèi)升高,其發(fā)育時間縮短。因?yàn)闇囟鹊年P(guān)系,沙發(fā)和床墊上的螨較涼的地毯和地板上的螨發(fā)育得快。
