1. Research background
Several strains of Lactobacillus saliva have recently been found to show good probiotic properties, such as antibacterial activity, inflammation regulation, and even the decrease of tumor disease. Lactobacillus saliva LI01, isolated from healthy human body, has shown probiotic properties in the prevention and treatment of liver failure. Tolerance to bile is essential for the survival and benefit of Lactobacillus in the gastrointestinal tract.
2. The purpose of the study
In this study, the Li Lanjuan research group of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University used the technology of digital gene expression profiling and iTRAQ proteomic analysis to characterize the response of salivary Lactobacillus LI01 to bile stress. The purpose of this study was to understand the changes and differences in the transcriptional and proteomic groups of Lactobacillus saliva LI01 during the process of bile stress.
Material: LI01 strain cultured in MRS broth medium; LI01 strain cultured with ox bile solution
3. The results of the study
Compared with the blank control, 591 differentially expressed genes and 347 differentially expressed proteins were detected in the LI01 strain cultured with ox bile solution. Analysis by GO and KEGG, found that the differentially expressed genes mainly involved in stress responses, such as glycolysis and transport and metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acid biosynthetic pathway; the protein involved in the regulation of DNA modification, gene expression and cell component degradation and metabolism.
