Eluent Generation—A Major Component of Reagent-Free IC
Eluent generation prevents baseline shift, increases sensitivity, improves resolution, and ensures consistent peak integration. A range of Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ EGC cartridges are available for the production of hydroxide, carbonate, bicarbonate and methanesulfonic acid eluents. Eluent generation eliminates the need to handle acids and bases traditionally required for the preparation of IC eluents, and allows chromatographers to run a full range of gradient and isocratic separations more effectively than hand-made eluents.

Dionex EGC III and EGC 500 cartridges support a concentration range of 0.1–100 mM (0.1–80 mM EGC III LiOH, 0.1-15 mM EGC 500 K2CO3) at 1.0 mL/min. The KOH, NaOH and LiOH cartridges support a maximum of 25% methanol. The K2CO3 and MSA cartridges are not solvent-compatible.
Dionex EGC (Capillary) cartridges support a concentration range of 0.1–200 mM at 0.010 mL/min and a flow rate range of 0.001–0.030 mL/min. The Dionex EGC-KOH (Capillary) cartridge supports a maximum of 25% methanol. The Dionex EGC-MSA (Capillary) cartridge is not solvent-compatible.
